Sometimes when I'm working on my computer, I also listen to the radio station from Wheaton College, WETN. It makes me feel a little closer to our friends in Wheaton and there really isn't any station quite like it here. The fun thing about their station is also that they play newer Christian music and they have more variety than the Christian music stations here.
Well, the other day I went to listen to WETN and I happened to notice the recent chapel speaker, Dr. Mark Labberton, author of The Dangerous Act of Worship: Living God's Call to Justice. With a title like that I was intrigued and couldn't resist listening in. After listening to one session, I had to listen to them all. When I finished, I found myself still processing what he said and it reminded me of my Pacific days and all the College Hours we attended and how the good ones left me thinking for days about some new perspective or possibility or aspect of faith. Now, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't really want to go back to being 19 or 20. My life right now is good and I love being a mom and all the challenges of taking care of my family. I would also have to say that at this stage in my life my mind is often consumed with the little things, like what to make for dinner and how best to conquer the laundry. So, when I happened across this series and actually took the time to listen in, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the "good thinking" it produced. In fact, I'm still thinking about it. There was enough depth in the teaching that I just might listen again or maybe even add his book to my list of things I want to read.
And now, maybe someone else is curious and will listen in, then we could have a great late night conversation. . . . .

Funny... As I was realizing how much catching up I have to do on your blog, I started wondering where I was in February and why I hadn't read so many of these posts... Then I remembered I was frantically obsessing about getting ready for our church's retreat. Anyway, it's funny to think back on the late night conversations and how we "knew" so much! Thinking about the issues in the church these days, I wonder what our kids will be discussing and pondering in the wee hours of the morning when they're in college...
