Aspirations

We all have aspirations, but isn't it funny how they seem to change as we get older?

Ethan wants to be either a scientist or athlete when he grows up. His two favorite things in the world are playing sports and learning about science.

For Elena, its definately an artist and perhaps children's book writer. She's already begun writing a few adorable drafts.

Joel is still trying to settle on his plans. A few months ago he wanted to be Superman when he grew up. At least, until he found out from his big sister that Superman was pretend. Last week he was going to have a donut shop, open on Tuesdays and closed on church days. Today as he was playing with his ocean theme Leggo guy, he thought maybe he would be an "ocean hero". Then he asked me if ocean heroes could make donuts. By the end of our car ride, he was back to being a donut maker. I guess the adventures of the ocean still couldn't compare with the thought of having all the donuts he wanted.

It seems that we never stop changing our minds, or should I say fine-tuning our goals. Anthony has gone back to school to get his Master's degree in English compostion with the hopes of teaching college and maybe someday publishing his own book.

I went back to school after getting my psychology degree to be a teacher. Really though, some days I just dream of getting my house organized and maybe making the mountain of laundry into a more managable pile. Most of all, I hope to go back to being a stay-at-home mom or maybe a work-from-home mom.

Welcome. Got here via Chris "Lefty" Brown. What an introduction!

A few weeks ago, Caleb wanted to be the best monster truck driver in the world. Still haven't figured out where that one came from.

I do like Joel's donut idea - he should move to Florida. We only seem to have Dunkin' (eew) and grocery store donuts around here.

We have a number of young aspirationers here too. Most of the time the oldest wants to be a "lawya" like dad.

Great blog, Paula!

I wanted to become a Policeman, which I did (then didn't). I later wanted to become a rock star and formula one race driver. I'm still working on those :-)

As for Ethans asperations, I know a 'Sports scientist' who goes to my gym. I have no idea what a sports scientist is, but suggest that idea to him for me will you.

I passed your idea on to Ethan and he says that he thinks a "sports scientist" is someone who studies the physics of sports. Great idea!

Hey Walla!
I'm trying to comment again and we'll see if it takes this time! I commented yesterday and it disappeared...

At least your kids all aspire to be something close to human! Our Caleb (2) says he'd like to become either one of Santa's elves or a shark. ? Completely random. Maybe he'll run into Joel either way with eating donuts or being in the ocean.

XOXO,
Stacie P.

Hey Stac,
I think my blog doesn't like anonymous comments and for some reason yours was listed that way. The only one I got was: Where's my comment? and I wasn't sure where it came from. I'm sure Joel would love to have a Santa related donut eating adventure with Caleb, though.

...in the ocean.

I was the one who wrote "Where's my comment?" That was when I lost my comment! Sorry for venting on your blog! :-)

I don't have a google account (actually I might, but I can't remember it) and I don't have a blog of my own... yet. So I have to be anonymous!

Yours truly,
ANONYMOUStacie
