Although Spring is barely here, my "summer vacation" is officially coming to an end. Since I work at a year-round school, I take my summer in February and March and then get to work April to July, with a few weeks off in August. Next year, I will get to be on the same schedule as Ethan and Elena and I can't wait. Until then there are some advantages to having time off when they are in school. This break I only had one goal: Exercise (no big projects allowed!). I am happy to report that I succeeded at both, for the most part.
Here is a partial list of what I did do:
1) Spent quality time with Joel, since he often has to go to preschool when Mommy works and the older kids are off. (He's a little too much of a handful for Grandma:)
2) Volunteered at the kids' school selling ice cream for PTA (They loved that!)
3) Filed our taxes.
4) Got the dog groomed and fixed.
5) Started a blog.
6) Had many days with no agenda and no set schedule!
Probably the thing that consumed most of my thoughts and time is this last one:
7) Found out that I am pregnant and that I have a genetic mutation which affects my ability to absorb folic acid. I will be taking MEGA doses of Folic Acid this time around. So far, everything is okay (I'm about 12 weeks along - due date, Nov. 4) and we are cautiously optimistic. Haven't told the kids yet, though. We're planning to wait until later, so that their wait will be less.
Now, I'm back at work and very tired in the evenings, so I don't know how much I'll be posting in the next few weeks.

What I did on my summer vacation . . .

Congrats on not doing too much! You forgot to mention that you hosted a party for 40+ people/kids INDOORS since it was raining, but I guess that was after you went back to work... it was lots of fun. :) I will of course keep praying for you and your little one as you wait for the weeks and months to pass.
You're right, I didn't count the party because it technically happened after I went back to work :) I will say that the party, followed by Easter and going back to work at the same time probably had a lot to do with the nearly month long gap between my posts!
Paula,
It is so good to hear you are at 12 weeks. Will you do a post sometime about the genetic mutation? I am praying for each of you!!
love, Jen M.
Congrats, Paula (and I suppose Anthony too :)
You will all definitely be in our prayers!
